  Introductory Session on Plugins and Scripts


Come learn how to develop your own 3D modeling operations in form·Z using its extension architecture. Methods for creating independent 'plugins' and integrated scripts will be presented in a hands-on workshop format.

Requirements:


BYOL (bring your own laptop). MacOS 10.2 or later, Windows 2000, NT ... , USB port, CD drive, 200 Mb of free disc space. Some programming experience is helpful but not required. An existing form·Z installation is not required. All necessary software will be supplied.

10:15 - 10:45   Lecture: Introduction to the form·Z script language (FSL)

11:00 - 12:00   Programming session 1: An introductory utility script
Learn how to write a simple extension, using FSL, that creates basic form·Z objects and arranges them in various patterns. Learn how to write a simple extension that modifies existing objects.

  Programming session 2: An introductory tool script
Learn how to write a simple extension, using FSL, that becomes a form·Z tool. Learn how to completely integrate an extension tool. Experiment with a number of variations of the tool.
3:15 - 3:30   Coffee break
3:30 - 5:00   Programming session 3: Shader scripts
Learn how to write a simple extension that becomes a RenderZone color shader. Experiment with a number of variations of the shader.
5:00 - 6:00   Open Lab: Independent projects
Have the opportunity to further develop any of the extensions written so far. Get one on one help from the AutoDesSys developers.
