Software used: form•Z, Strata StudioPro, De-Babelizer, Photoshop, and Quark XPress.

Three-week Final Exam: Produce a series of informational illustrations showing the construction and function of the Omega valve.

PI's Comments: This student has produced a comprehensive set of illustrations for the Omega valve within a limited time period. The technical accuracy and attention to detail is excellent. The use of Strata StudioPro to render the finished models shows a high degree of lighting and viewpoint control that enhances the form•Z construction. The creation and choice of texture and color served to highlight the finish, construction and features of the valve in a very explicit manner. This student managed to utilize the best features of the software to produce a set of illustrations that are both aesthetically pleasing and technically accurate.

Jury Comments:

Kent Hubbell, James Gibbs, and Alan Koch: Extremely disciplined approach. Clear, good coloration. Beautifully illustrative of the mechanism. Succinct graphic layout.

Robert Wandel: An elegant use of explaining an object with form•Z. Very subtly executed to seem almost easy. The colorization is sensitive and informative.
