The 1993-94 form•Z Joint Study

"I realized that, by using form•Z, I would be able to design the sets with help from one of the film direction students, and although this film will never be made, with form•Z all the shots and camera angles could be realized in the computer. The exact picture that you would see through the lens of the camera could be shown by changing the angle of the cone of vision, and changing the shape ratio of the window. For instance, for widescreen format shot with a 35mm lens with a focal length of 25mm, would require a window ratio of 1:1.85, with a camera angle of 52.9 degrees. The ability of form•Z to show this means that films can be exactly storyboarded before production, and the extents of any set can be measured very exactly, cutting costs quite considerably."
